Rena Defez Art Legacy

Rena Defez loved many things: Family (especially her grandchildren, friends and celebrating life to the fullest.

Rena was also very passionate about art education and children. Despite her formal education and advanced degrees, she would often be found on the floor getting messy with her students. Rena had a magical way of communicating her love for art to children of all ages.

“Dear Mrs. Defez,” wrote a parent of one of Rena’s art students,

“Thank you for making Cottonwood so beautiful. You have shared your love of art with thousands of Cottonwood children. Thanks for making a positive difference for so many. You truly have made a big difference in the life of my child and all the people who know you.”

Rena would have LOVED The Art Garage. The Art Garage offers classes in local schools and organizations, making sure that traditionally underserved people are always included. 

Rena can no longer directly impact children and their love of art. Through supporting her legacy, you can help The Art Garage provide scholarships and programs in underprivileged communities.  Rena volunteered for a similar program many years ago, but they were forced to close their doors due to lack of funding.  Please make a meaningful contribution to help continue Rena's legacy.
