2026 Bears Athletics Fundraiser

A student’s day of growth, civic involvement, and friendship does not end when the last bell rings. Merit Academy therefore offers a growing athletics program that extends the school’s commitment to excellence, character, and community beyond the classroom.

Merit Academy has launched the first phase of its athletics offerings, which currently include:

• High School Cross Country
• High School Boys Basketball
• Middle School Cross Country
• Middle School Boys Basketball
• School of Grammar Landsharks (K–6 Cross Country & Track)
• Athletic Clinics
• Competitive Marksmanship Teams (K–12 Shooting Sports)

Phase Two expands opportunities further with the addition of Middle School girls basketball. High School volleyball is scheduled to begin in 2026–27, and Girls Basketball will advance to the high school level in subsequent years. Additional sports will continue to be introduced based on student interest, demand, and the natural advancement of student-athletes into higher grade levels.

Current team offerings include:

• Volleyball (Middle School; High School beginning 2026–27)
• Boys and Girls Cross Country (Middle School and High School)
• Boys Basketball (Middle School and High School)
• Girls Basketball (Middle School 2025–26; High School thereafter)
• Landsharks (K–6 Cross Country & Track)
• Competitive Marksmanship / Varsity Rifle Team

The Varsity Rifle Team, founded in 2024, competes in Three-Position Sporter Air Rifle (prone, kneeling, and standing). The program emphasizes gun and range safety while developing the life skills of discipline, focus, responsibility, and accountability that prepare students to become capable leaders and citizens. 

Merit Academy Athletics is intentionally phased and student-centered, growing alongside the school so that more students can experience the benefits of competition, teamwork, perseverance, and excellence in a classical educational environment.
