When my son Kyle was 20 months old, he was diagnosed with autism and epilepsy within the same one-week period. I can't even describe the rollercoaster of emotions I felt trying navigate the world of early intervention, seizure meds, and worrying about what our family's future might look like. Enter Kyle's EI speech therapist Nicole, who could tell I was struggling and overwhelmed and suggested I join Parent to Parent of Colorado. In P2P I found the exact community I didn't know I needed: other parents who had been or currently were in the thick of special needs parenting. Finding P2P helped me feel less alone and see that even though my parenting journey may not look like I expected it to, I could survive, and even thrive. Since that moment when I found P2P over 5 years ago, I've learned so much and helped pay it forward by supporting numerous other parents and helping them feel less alone. In honor of myself and my family, please consider donating to P2P to help continue the cycle of support.
