Youth deserve access to a transformational out-of-school program that puts them on a path to success. For over 35 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of Larimer County has been focused on building better futures for kids and teens. We are only able to continue this vital work with your support! Join us in building leaders, building innovators, and building resilience for kids and teens in our community.
Building Leaders
We recognize that BGCLC youth are not just Club members but the next generation of leaders in our community. We engage Larimer County’s youth in programs that help foster leadership skills and qualities, including integrity, commitment, drive, and responsibility. We are actively cultivating Larimer County's emerging leaders through character-building programs like Youth of the Year, Torch Club, and Summer of Discovery.
In 2022, more than 2,400 youth participated in character-building programs at their Club. Staff have watched integrity, creativity, and respect grow among Club members as a result. “Club helped me build character and showed me ways to solve problems,” said one Club member.
Building Innovators
Across the county, our programs are building innovators. By offering youth opportunities to learn ballet, try fly fishing, and participate in our Hour of Code program, we are doing our part to encourage curiosity, spark passion, and achieve growth.
R.G. is a kindergartener who struggles with staying focused and motivated during activities. As we increased opportunities for R.G. to be hands-on through STEM programming, he began to thrive, and his enthusiasm for learning grew. He explored his strengths and creativity through building projects and other guided activities.
Building Resilience
Many of our youth at BGCLC face difficult circumstances beyond their control, so we aim to ensure adversity doesn’t have the last word. We help equip our youth with strategies and tools they can use to build their capacity to recover from difficulties. In particular, our social-emotional learning programs, led by our Behavioral Health Team, focus on helping youth develop confidence, connection, character, and coping skills.
When families requested more social-emotional support, we added two additional mental health professionals to our Behavioral Health Team to serve even more youth. In total, 954 youth were supported with mental health services in 2021, and the number of youth who access these services continues to grow.
