YOU wear the most important hat at Local.

When Local Theater Company first entered my world, I was an audience member. The plays that this little theater company was producing really connected with me because they were smart, funny, visceral, and so relevant to the very moment in which I was living. Steadily, while the plays that Local fostered became more and more a part of my life, I became more and more a part of Local. Today I'm an Associate Artist, a Local Playwright and I'm privileged to serve on its Board of Directors.

Still, no matter how many hats I've worn at Local, I've learned over and over that the most important hat is that of an audience member for new plays. When we say "Be a Local," we mean let each show or event make you feel Local to the story, the characters, the world of the play--and to each other--all over again.

Any amount you give funds all the crucial parts of bringing plays to the page and then to the stage. It goes to an artist's stipend at Local Lab, to our production design for a mainstage show, to the educators who work with 6th-8th graders for LocalWRITES, to our venue rentals as an itinerant company, and, sometimes organizations avoid mentioning this, but our donations, along with the grants Local secures, are crucial to help fund professional salaries and stipends for Local's amazing staff. (Fifteen years of Local's growth and innovation should create more jobs in the arts, don't you agree?)
