Levi's Journey with Local

Back in 2019, when I first started with Local Theater Company, I was an over hire position still attending MSU Denver studying Theatre. I had received an email from Jacob Welch the department head, and an Associate Artists at Local! Even though I basically knew nothing at that time about being an over hire or a technician I decided to apply and lend a helping hand.

Oh my lanta, helping strike at, 10:00pm that summer after every show night because Discount Ghost Stories was outside and the set, sound, and lighting equipment was set up and taken down after every show was a task within itself. I learned a lot about the challenges of technical theater outside. I met the amazingly talented Misha S. Zimmerman during this process. I realized that Misha was someone I wanted to work with again during this project, because of her ability to communicate kindly, effectively, and quickly during stressful situations, she is just an amazing human being!!!

Anyways fast forward after that project, anytime Local/Misha needed some over hire for a party, project, event, or show I showed up! Eventually during Raised on Ronstadt I was helping with opening night and house managing the show, there was an Associate Producer position at Local Theater Company. Misha asked if I was interested and encouraged me to apply. So, I looked into it, and I was super interested. Later Betty Hart, also recommended I apply to the same position, not talking to Misha about it at all. Thus, I knew I needed to apply!

Now, it has been one full year since I got hired as the Associate Producer at Local Theater Company, and I have helped with 5 full productions of world premieres, 5 staged readings, and multiple other events! Our most recent show, I not only produced, but got the lovely experience of Assistant Directing You Enjoy Myself which was an incredibly eye-opening experience! I have really enjoyed working at Local and learned so much about theatre and new works. I have also had the lovely opportunity to impacts Local in a really positive way and help with systemic changes and some lovely updates!

I am so excited to be a Local and continue to work with a company that really values artists and the art they are trying to produce!

New stories deserve to be told!
