At Promoting Empowerment Eagle River (formerly known as Red Ribbon Project), we believe that knowledge is power, and the path to healthier futures begins with comprehensive sexual health education. Our mission is clear: to reduce teen pregnancy, HIV/AIDS, and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in Eagle County by promoting an empowered community that values sexual health and well-being. We are dedicated to empowering our youth with knowledge, fostering open conversations, and providing vital resources to help them make informed choices about their sexual health.

Our Impact

Our programs are making a significant impact in Eagle County. We serve nearly 3,500 students per year through our maturation classes for 5th to 8th graders and sexual health classes for 9th grade. We provide free HIV testing, ensuring that every individual who needs it can access this essential service, and distribute nearly 10,000 condoms to promote safe practices.

Education for Empowerment

Education is at the core of our efforts. We send educators to local schools to facilitate discussions about maturation and sexual health. Our curriculum is designed to be comprehensive and inclusive, ensuring that every student has access to medically accurate information and follows Colorado's Comprehensive Health standards and guidelines. We recognize that these conversations can be uncomfortable for some youth, so we strive to create a safe and judgment-free space where questions can be asked and answered.

We also encourage young people to communicate with trusted adults in their lives about sexual development and their experiences. We believe that open and honest conversations between youth and adults are vital in empowering our community to make healthier choices.

Transparency and Trust

We understand that some parents or guardians may have concerns about the content of our curriculum. To address this, we offer complete transparency. Parents have the option to request and review our curriculum, ensuring that they are comfortable with the information being shared with their children. We value the trust and collaboration of parents and the community in our efforts to promote sexual health education.

Your Support Matters

Promoting Empowerment Eagle River's work is only possible through the generosity of supporters like you. By contributing to our fundraising campaign, you directly impact the lives of thousands of youth and hundreds of residents in Eagle County. Your support enables us to continue providing maturation classes, sexual health education, free HIV testing funding, and access to condoms, all of which contribute to creating healthier, safer futures for our community.

We rely on support from various sources, including foundations, the State of Colorado, local governments, the local medical community, and the local school district. Our annual fundraiser, the Eagle Music Festival, is a significant contributor to our budget. In addition to these sources, we greatly appreciate the donations we receive from our supportive family and friends.
