Jefferson County Communities That Care

 

We all want to live in a community that is safe, thriving, connected, and continuously improving. For that to happen, each community member must feel they belong. This is especially true for youth. When young people feel included, valued, and heard, they gain confidence to face challenges, make meaningful change, and take pride in their community.

Unfortunately, today’s world presents unique risks youth should not have to navigate alone. From the growing mental health crisis to the pressures of substance use and isolation, many youth and young adults feel misunderstood and powerless to make change. In addition, society is not set up to give young people a strong voice in the decisions that shape their lives, and the lack of belonging and opportunity to contribute can lead to fear, anxiety, and disengagement.

Jefferson County Communities That Care (Jeffco CTC) exists to change this reality. We create safe spaces for youth to speak up and be heard—by adults, community leaders, and one another.

Every Jeffco CTC decision and initiative is shaped directly by youth input.  Through our workgroups and town halls, we gather and share critical data with individuals, educators, policy makers, and community organizations, so they can address root causes, not just symptoms, of the issues youth are facing.

Getting involved is simple and impactful.

• Sign up for our newsletter to learn about the challenges youth face and the solutions that are being created.

• Then, engage with and share our content with both youth and adults to expand awareness and understanding.

• And finally, take action to uplift youth voices. Start a conversation, join a workgroup, or donate.

When youth and adults work together, we create lasting positive change. By uplifting youth voices and creating stronger partnerships across generations and organizations, we can ensure Jefferson County is a place where young people are safe, healthy, confident, and equipped to lead us forward.
