Programs like SNAP and WIC do not cover hygiene essentials, while food pantries serve as trusted community resources for hunger relief. By expanding access from food to food and hygiene, we can help ensure students and families have the everyday essentials they need to learn, work, fully participate in their communities, and thrive.
Justice Necessary works alongside food pantries serving our communities to strengthen and amplify their efforts, helping make essentials like soap, shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, and menstrual products more accessible to Coloradans across the state.
For students, the impact of not having these essentials can reach directly into the classroom. Without access to basic hygiene, students may miss school or activities, struggle with confidence, or find it difficult to focus on learning. Something as simple as a toothbrush, a bar of soap, or a period product can remove a barrier standing between a student and their education.
Donations to the Next with Kyle Clark Word of Thanks campaign will support Justice Necessary's HygienePalooza, bringing communities together to pack essential hygiene products for students across Colorado.
These hygiene kits will be distributed to K–12 schools and college and university pantries statewide, helping transform student food pantries into food and hygiene pantries—because students need more than food to learn, grow, and thrive.
Every student deserves the opportunity to show up, participate, learn, and thrive with confidence. Because access to hygiene just is necessary.
