Katie's Fundraiser for the Don't Look Back Center

The Don't Look Back Center was created to empower socially and economically disadvantaged individuals of all racial and ethnic backgrounds to obtain safety, restoration, leadership, courage, tenacity, and health.

Our clients are mostly returning citizens ,women, including transwomen,gender nonconforming individuals, and mothers with babies. most of whom have had recent criminal justice involvement and have experienced a variety of life traumas. We actively seek out this population in our community outreach work and refuse support to anyone. Among our recent clients, a disproportionate number were victims of domestic violence, several were HIV+, and virtually all had housing instability.

The amazing team and mentors are committed to empowering diverse populations with life skills to rebuild their lives from the grip of addiction, trauma, PTSD, and domestic violence.   

Transgender people are over four times more likely than cisgender people to experience violent victimization, including rape, sexual assault, and aggravated or simple assault (according to a study by the Williams Institute at UCLA School of Law). As a member of the LGBTQ+ community myself, I am well aware of the homophobic and transphobic attitudes that are circulating around in our schools, our housing communities, the media, healthcare facilities and more.
