In loving memory of Rosalynn Carter

For more than three decades, President and Mrs. Carter donated their time and leadership to Habitat each year to build and improve homes around the world. Mrs. Carter was truly a compassionate and committed advocate for families everywhere.
 
When many people think of Habitat, they think of President Carter, but Mrs. Carter was just as much of a Habitat hero. She worked hard, often in difficult conditions, to make life better for families around the world. She believed deeply in our mission and many times became very emotional when she talked about the families with whom the couple had worked. Like other Habitat volunteers, she would often say that she and President Carter got so much more out of helping families build their homes than they gave.

“Rosalynn was my equal partner in everything I ever accomplished,” Jimmy Carter said in the statement following her death. “She gave me wise guidance and encouragement when I needed it. As long as Rosalynn was in the world, I always knew somebody loved and supported me.”
