Meet The Har: Jewish Young Adult Life in the Heart of the Rockies

In a town known for powder days and mountain air, The Har is creating something rare and essential: Jewish community for young adults in Steamboat Springs.

Launched as a pilot project by Har Mishpacha, The Har gives Jewish locals, seasonal workers, and visitors ages 21–40 a place to belong, celebrate, and connect—on their terms. Through intimate Shabbat dinners, holiday events, and social gatherings, The Har has become a warm, welcoming entry point to Jewish life in a place where few expected to find it.

This is not just about Friday night dinners—it's about building the future of Jewish life in a ski town where many feel spiritually isolated. It’s about making Judaism accessible, relevant, and joyful for young adults who are seeking meaning and connection in a transient, fast-paced mountain lifestyle.

With your help, we aim to:

  • Host at least 8 Jewish programs and Shabbat gatherings next year

  • Offer 20 fully sponsored memberships to Har Mishpacha for young adults who can’t otherwise afford it

  • Build a long-term foundation for Jewish engagement in Northwest Colorado

We are raising funds to support this next chapter of The Har—and we invite you to be part of it.

Your donation supports meaningful Jewish experiences, cultivates leadership among young adults, and strengthens the wider Har Mishpacha community. Together, we can make Jewish life in the mountains vibrant, lasting, and accessible—for this generation and the next.

Help us grow The Har—because Jewish community should be as rooted and expansive as the mountains that surround us.
