The Forney Museum of Transportation, located in Denver, Colorado, has always been a must-see destination for those interested in transportation history. The museum was founded in 1961 by J.D. Forney, a passionate collector of antique cars, trains, and other forms of transportation. Since then, the museum has grown to become one of the largest transportation museums in the world, with over 600 artifacts on display.

The museum's collection includes a wide variety of transportation vehicles, ranging from antique cars and motorcycles to steam locomotives and even airplanes. Visitors can see some of the earliest cars ever produced, including a 1903 Curve Dash Oldsmobile, as well as more modern vehicles like a 1987 Monte Carlo SS!

In addition to the impressive collection of vehicles, the Forney Museum also provides educational exhibits and interactive displays that allow visitors to learn about the history of transportation and its impact on society. Whether you are a transportation enthusiast or just looking for a fun and educational outing, the Forney Museum is definitely worth a visit.

Donating to The Forney Museum on Colorado Gives Day is a fantastic way to give back to your community and support education. Your contribution can help to fund several initiatives that will enhance the museum experience and make it even more engaging for visitors. Here are a few ways your donation can make a difference:

  • Purchasing  electronic technology displays: The Forney Museum is home to a vast collection of transportation-related artifacts and exhibits. By donating to the museum, you can help fund the purchase of displays that will enhance visitors' understanding of the exhibits and bring the history of transportation to life.
  • Investing in S.T.E.M. learning tools: The museum is committed to educating visitors about the science, technology, engineering, and math (S.T.E.M.) that underpins transportation. Your donation can help fund the development of new S.T.E.M. learning tools that will help visitors of all ages learn about transportation in an interactive and engaging way.
  • Supporting educational programs: The Forney Museum offers a range of educational programs and workshops for children and adults. By donating to the museum, you can help ensure that these programs continue and reach as many people as possible.

Potential programs and workshops:

Potentially, we have a workshop on aerodynamics, where visitors learn how planes are designed to stay in the air. This could involve building and testing paper airplanes of different shapes and sizes to see how they fly.

Another program could be focused on renewable energy sources and how they are used in transportation, such as electric cars and hybrids. Visitors could learn about the science behind these technologies and how they are helping to reduce our carbon footprint.

Additionally, we are considering incorporating engineering challenges related to transportation, such as building a bridge out of toothpicks and glue that can support the weight of a toy car. This would allow visitors to learn about the engineering principles behind bridge design and construction.

Another potential exhibits is "Transportation Revolution," which will explore the history of transportation from the early 1800s to the present day. The exhibit will be interactive displays and hands-on activities, allowing visitors to experience the evolution of transportation firsthand. From horse-drawn carriages to electric cars, the exhibit will showcase the technological advancements that have transformed the way we travel.

By incorporating S.T.E.M. subjects into our transportation exhibits and workshops, we can provide a fun and engaging learning experience for visitors of all ages. These types of programs can inspire curiosity and encourage visitors to explore the world of transportation in a whole new way.

No matter how small or large your donation, it will make a difference in the museum's ability to inspire and educate visitors for many years to come. So, this Colorado Gives Day, consider donating to The Forney Museum and help support this valuable community resource.
