Carol's Colfax Half for Children's Colorado

Hi! My name is Carol and I'm so glad you're here :)  I am an aspiring pediatrician and recent graduate of the University of Virginia, where I found my passion for volunteer work. That is why it was so important to me that I found a worthwhile cause to volunteer with upon moving back to Colorado after graduation. I have always enjoyed working with kids; they may be the smallest but I believe they are the mightiest. That all brought me to Children's Colorado and I'm so glad it did. 

I have been volunteering with Children's since August of 2024 and my Saturdays with Children's never fails to be the highlight of my week. I get to spend my day making paper airplanes, talking about Bluey, building Mr. PotatoHeads, and more with the sweetest of patients. I always walk out with my cup filled to the brim and the biggest smile on my face. Volunteering with Children's gives me a sense of purpose. But behind the toys and giggles lies something deeper. I remember being the screaming kid in the pediatrician’s office, completely terrified of every visit. That fear and uncertainty is exactly what Children’s Colorado works so hard to ease. And that is why I so value the work that they do for kids filled with the same fear I once was.
