This year I had the honor of joining the Tabor Opera House Preservation Foundation (TOHPF) Board. Leadville's historic gem, the Tabor Opera House, has a nearly 150-year-old storied past, and luminaries like Oscar Wilde, Sarah Bernhardt, John Philip Sousa, and Harry Houdini graced its stage, along with generations of resilient and talented Leadville locals.

Recognizing the rarity of this venue, Colorado Preservation Inc. listed the Tabor Opera House as an Endangered Place in 2016, and the National Trust for Historic Preservation dubbed it a National Treasure, too.

TOHPF has been working to save this unique landmark from decades of deferred interior and exterior maintenance, all while creating an active arts and culture hub. Initial rehabilitation efforts have been focused on the building's exterior — we're close to completing those, but we need your help to achieve that goal.

This fiscal year, each dollar you give will be generously matched up to $70,000 by an anonymous local donor. Please join us in revitalizing Leadville's historic Tabor Opera House and creating an arts and culture hub for locals, luminaries, travelers, and seekers to enjoy!
