BEST Snow Sports Adaptive Program

This is by far the best volunteer opportunity I've ever done!

I am so proud to be one of Ignites volunteer's helping to provide snow sports adventures to kids and adults with all kinds of disabilities. 

It is truly remarkable seeing the smiles on the students faces when they are able to ski or snowboard for the first time. Ignite provides adaptive equipment, winter clothing and an enthusiastic talented bunch of volunteers who make this program simply remarkable. Ignite Adaptive Sports has been a beacon of hope and excitement for nearly 50 years. We’ve grown to empower hundreds of students, and our trained volunteers are on track to deliver 1400+ lessons this year. Our journey, which started in the back of a van, is now on the cusp of a groundbreaking leap – a state-of-the-art facility to call home.

Imagine a school where people with all sorts of disabilities – including disabled veterans, children with autism, people living with paralysis, lost limbs, stroke injuries, and blindness – have the space and equipment to experience the thrill and freedom of snowsports. A two-story, 12,000 square foot haven, where the first floor buzzes with the energy of Ignite’s operations, and the second floor opens a gateway to the mountain for wheelchair and sit-ski users, alongside Eldora’s Children’s Ski School.

But this dream is yet to be fully realized. We’re on the final stretch, needing to raise $300,000 more to hit our $1.9 million target to open, equip, and operate the school.
