The Clyfford Still Museum might be known as a gem in Denver, showcasing the profound works of one of the 20th century’s most groundbreaking artists. But the Still is much more than a single-artist museum. It’s a civic and creative hub where contemporary artists, scholars, and community members come together to draw inspiration from Still’s legacy and to shape Colorado’s vibrant cultural future.
This Colorado Gives Day, I invite you to join me in supporting the Still’s ongoing work to uplift and empower artists. In recent years, the Museum has taken intentional steps to open its archives, studios, and collections to living artists — igniting new ideas and continuing Still’s belief in the power of independent creative endeavor. Our Institute Residential Fellowship program, now in its second year, provides rare opportunities for deep research and reflection. These residencies have sparked thought-provoking new work and redefined the Museum as a living resource and a place where artists and scholars can experiment, learn, and create together.
On view now, Tell Clyfford I Said “Hi” builds on that spirit of collaboration. Co-curated with children from the Colville Confederated Tribes in Washington State, the exhibition invites visitors to see Still’s art through the perspectives of Colville youth, exploring themes of Family & Culture, Connection, Imagination, the Outside, Love, and Paint & Color. The exhibition is a remarkable example of what happens when the Museum shares authority and opens its doors to new voices.
Your gift this Colorado Gives Day helps make all of this possible. Every donation, no matter the size, strengthens a civic treasure that belongs to Denver and keeps creativity thriving across Colorado. Together, we keep the Still uniquely Denver — a place where art, dialogue, and innovation grow side by side.
