I started the Treehouse with another mom back in 2019, during a season when our kids were growing up so quickly. They weren’t newborns anymore—they were getting bigger, more independent, and before long they were heading off to primary school. That’s when it hit us: they didn’t need us in the same way anymore… but we still desperately needed connection.

Looking back, those early years were beautiful, but they were also incredibly isolating. Parenting young children in rural Bayfield meant a lot of long, quiet days, no nearby family to lean on, and hardly any places for parents or kids to go. We didn’t want other parents to feel the same loneliness we had pushed through.

So we dreamed of creating the space we wished we’d had in those early years, a warm, welcoming place filled with play, support, laughter, and honest conversations. A place where parents could show up exactly as they were, where friendships bloomed naturally, and where little ones could learn and grow together long before school ever began.

And in 2019, with nothing but heart, determination, and a strong desire to give back to the community, the Treehouse was born.

Then came COVID. It was terrifying for everyone, but it also made one thing crystal clear: our community needed this space. We were able to stay open safely, giving families a clean, steady place to connect, to breathe, to find support, and to remember they weren’t alone during such uncertain times.

Today, the Treehouse has grown into a home for more than 100 families. We offer playgroups for little ones, Baby & Me classes, Tumbling Tots movement sessions, parenting workshops, support groups for moms, and our lifesaving Parent Work Time program. Our families are wonderfully diverse; homesteaders, international families, veterans, young parents, grandparents raising kids, families just starting out, and now even community partners using our space. People from all walks of life come together here to play, talk, laugh, and support one another.

Memberships are $400 per year or $50 per month, but even that small fee is still out of reach for many of our families. That’s why we have always offered scholarships. Right now, 40% of our families are on scholarship. We’ve never once turned someone away due to financial hardship.

Yes, it puts a strain on our budget—but our motto has always been simple:No parent parents alone.

Everyone is welcome at the Treehouse, no matter what their bank account looks like, no matter their circumstances, and no matter how hard life feels.
