CO Faith Communities United to End Gun Violence

We are Colorado’s only faith-based non-profit working to end gun violence.   We believe in a future without gun violence.

As diverse faith communities, we are called to work to reduce injuries, deaths, and the resulting grief caused by the improper use of firearms--whether suicidal, accidental, or criminal.  We work together in areas where we can be most effective, including legislative advocacy, public health initiatives, public awareness, and increased engagement of our faith communities

Here are some of our accomplishments:

• We produced the video "Preventing Firearm Suicides 101" with the help of suicide prevention professionals and are currently presenting it on request to community organizations.
• We provide volunteers who become mentors to juveniles who have a non-violent firearm felony through Denver's Handgun Intervention Program (HIP)
• We contact legislators to support or oppose certain gun bills through our rapid response network.  We produce the "Profile of Gun Violence" which sums up data surrounding gun deaths in Colorado for a particular year.
• We  support Guns to Gardens events where unwanted firearms are turned into garden tools, and Gun Safe Giveaway events, where gun safes for homes and vehicles are distributed free of charge.
• We inform and organize faith communities to work for an end to gun violence and we honor victims.
