Our democracy is fragile and requires ongoing attention to ensure it remains strong. I was privileged to join the Colorado Common Cause advisory board in 2017 and since then I have worked on a number of projects, including;

  • Writing postcards and recruiting volunteers to write postcards for the 2020 Census, encouraging people to stand up and be counted
  • Working on the JustVote Colorado election protection initiative, helping to ensure that every vote was counted
  • Organizing volunteers to meet with their government officials to discuss net neutrality
  • Serving as poll monitor at voting locations, helping to ensure the integrity of our election process
  • Leading an effort to submit group comments to the Colorado Redistricting Commission.
  • Helping to plan and execute policy summits, bringing together people to learn about potential threats to our democracy and what we can do to protect it, and
  • Recruiting citizens to attend our Lobby Day at the Capitol to meet with their representatives and express their views on topics they deem important

Democracy doesn’t just happen. It takes work.

I also volunteer at a local lavender garden, and often think of how democracy is like a garden. Without constant attention and care, a garden will lose its luster and eventually die. The same can happen to our democracy if we’re not paying attention.

What is democracy worth to you?

Please join me in contributing to  Colorado Common Cause to support its important mission. I will match the first $250 in donations to protect our democracy.

Together we can ensure our democracy remains strong and works for everyone.
