Roots to Ground Them, Wings to Soar

Campfires. New friends. Paddleboarding. Hiking under big skies. Slowing down and laughing in nature.

For many of us, these are the memories that define summer. But for children in foster care, opportunities like summer camp are often out of reach.

This year, Cobbled Streets is teaming up with Sylvaneers to change that—hosting a 3-day, 2-night overnight camp for 20–25 kids experiencing the foster care system at the beautiful Camp Santa Maria in Grant, Colorado, from July 27th - 29th. 

Camp is completely free to families, aside from a $25 registration fee. That means caregivers also receive much-needed and well-deserved respite time, knowing their children are in a safe, joyful, and supportive environment.  

What makes this camp truly special?

• A trauma-informed model created in partnership with Sylvaneers and Raise the Future
• A 2:1 camper-to-volunteer ratio, ensuring every child receives individual care and attention
• All volunteers are TBRI®-trained (Trust-Based Relational Intervention), equipping them to support children who have experienced trauma, early adversity, and toxic stress
• A week full of outdoor adventure and emotional growth—fostering confidence, connection, and healing

At Sylvaneers and Cobbled Streets, we believe every child should have the chance to connect with nature and themselves—to thrive in the outdoors while building resilience, self-efficacy, and a growth mindset. This camp was designed to do just that.

Our goal is to raise $20,000, which covers:

• All camp expenses for 25 children ($800/child)
• Transportation to and from camp
• Nutritious meals and snacks… also marshmallows🙂
• Trauma-informed staff support, including additional background checks and onboarding for program volunteers
• Recreation and art supplies

The INCREDIBLE land and facilities at Camp Santa Maria, as well as the time of the Sylvaneers staff, have been generously donated. Cobbled Streets will ensure that every child is fully equipped for the adventure by providing all necessary gear—from sleeping bags to hiking boots—at no cost to families.
