Celebrate and Support Dignify Dementia!

We are asking for your support for Dignify Dementia, a Colorado-based nonprofit dedicated to promoting awareness and providing resources and support to anyone affected by the dementia journey.  Our mission at Dignify Dementia is to assist and support individuals, families, and other care partners living with and navigating dementia, to get and stay connected, organized, and grounded by emphasizing dignity and independence.  After 5 years of caregiving and researching, I started this organization inspired by my dad, who is slowly dying of Lewy Body Dementia with Parkinsonism.  

He was diagnosed in late 2018.  We do our very best to care for him so he can stay in the home, but even with two of us, there are days when it is overwhelming and all-consuming.  He has always been a man who tries to help others when he can and one of the first questions he asked when we got his diagnosis was "how can we help other people like me?"  I told him we'd see what we could do to help him first, but then I promised him I'd find a way to help other people like him and other families like ours.  Based on what we were told by all the doctors and all the research I did, I developed a set of resources for him that he has used every day for 5 years, and he reports that they do help him stay anchored in the present.  After years of tailoring this toolkit of resources for him and encouragement from his doctors, his physical therapists, and his speech therapists, I finally figured out how I could help him help others, so I started Dignify Dementia, a website where I sell the toolkit to people with all kinds of dementia. I know I can't cure dementia with my loving efforts, but if I can make life any easier for those suffering like him and give support to other families like mine, I feel I'm honoring his wishes.

Dignify Dementia has officially been providing awareness, outreach, and support to those living with dementia and their care partners for 1 year.  We’d like to continue doing so, but that can only happen with your generous contributions.   Please donate what you’re able so that we can keep being a source of accurate and helpful information on all types of dementia, providing comprehensive resources and personalized toolkits to all those seeking them, and supporting the culture of caregivers with empowering discussions, as well as inclusive mutual aid groups.
