As 2023 draws to a close, we want to express our deep gratitude for your unwavering support of Archuleta Seniors, Inc. aka Pagosa Springs Senior Center.  Thanks to the generosity of people like you we have been able to continue our mission of providing essential services to our 60+ citizens.   The Pagosa Springs Senior Center, home to our Community Cafe continues to be a sanctuary for seniors & their caregivers seeking companionship, support, and a sense of belonging.   We have been able to achieve this through our diverse range of programs and services designed to enhance the lives of our Senior community.

Our General Operations Fund is the lifeblood of our organization, allowing us to maintain our facility, support our dedicated staff, and continue offering a wide array of services, Including:

Nutritional Services:  Our meal programs have continued to flourish, ensuring that seniors in our community receive delicious, fresh, locally sourced, nourishing meals prepared by our Award-winning Chef and Kitchen Staff.  Meals are prepared fresh daily and served in our dining hall,  offered for curbside pickup, or delivered to our homebound seniors by our team of dedicated Meals on Wheels volunteers, providing our seniors with vital social connection along with meeting their nutritional needs.

Enrichment & Wellness Activities: Workshops and presentations such as Healthy Habits, VITA Tax Support, Fall Prevention & Caregiver Training are offered along with numerous opportunities for Social Interaction at the Pagosa Senior Center "Silver Foxes Den" Meeting Hall.  Senior Conversations support group,  Weekly Chair Yoga, and Gaming Groups such as Bridge, Mahjong, and other Card Games.  Zentangle Art Therapy, Scrapbooking Club, Online Senior Programs from Mather Institute on a variety of subjects.

As a result of these programs, mortality, and morbidity are reduced, older adults live more independently and age in place, and basic needs are met.  As these individuals thrive, quality of life is greatly improved, while healthcare costs decline, and the community realizes an overall strengthening.

Community Outreach: This year in collaboration with SJBAAA Region 9 we were able to secure funding and are now operating a 42ft Greenhouse Dome and with the help of a horticulturist are now growing some of our own organic vegetables to supplement the needs required for use in our meal programs.

Local FUNdraising Events-  Local Businesses provided discounts for those who purchased our Senior Discount Card from ASI.   Successful community Fundraising Events that engaged the community were organized this past year by Archuleta Seniors, Inc. along with generous Community Sponsor support and a hard-working group of volunteers and Staff.   The Big Band Dance & Auction, A Kentucky Derby Party & Silent Auction,  The long-awaited return of the Spanish Fiesta after a 20-year Hiatus, and the Dia de Los Muertos Dance.  A good time for a good cause was had by all!

A local BIPOC Youth Scholarship was created in partnership with our Spanish Fiesta Committee. We were able to expand our fundraising effort to reinvest in the future of the local underserved youth in our community.  By investing in this Scholarship, we create multigenerational opportunities that allow our Seniors to interact and take pride in the achievements of our local youth thereby fostering community connections.

Archuleta Seniors, Inc. remains steadfast in our commitment to enhancing the well-being of the seniors in our community.  We appreciate the Kindness of our Donors who see and honor their responsibilities and invest in their community.  Your annual or recurring monthly financial contribution helps us create strong bonds of connection and caring by helping those in need and creating healthy opportunities & improving the quality of life for our 60+ citizens.  We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our dedicated staff & volunteers, active board members, and generous supporters who have made and are making our mission a reality.  Together we look forward to another year of growth progress, and continued support from our amazing community.  Thank you for being an integral part of our journey!  Wishing you and your loved ones a warm and joyful holiday season.  May the spirit of giving continue to shine in our hearts.
