Walk your Talk - Support Art from Ashes with Kelly

I am raising funds to support Art from Ashes, a local Denver nonprofit that helps to empower and support youth ages 12-24 through creative expression, connection, and transformation. 

I would love for you to join me in supporting this phenomenal organization - you can even join me in walking, trotting, sashaying, or dancing the Colfax 5k on Saturday, May 17th! 

For over 20 years, the creative empowerment programs offered by Art from Ashes have helped provide a brave space for youth to take control of their own stories. Since 2003, Art from Ashes has partnered with more than 220 youth-serving organizations to empower nearly 19,000 youth through their award-winning transformational poetry and spoken word workshops at juvenile detention facilities, treatment centers, youth homeless shelters, LGBTQ centers, and schools.

I have volunteered with Art from Ashes since 2017 and currently serve on the Board of Directors. I’ve gotten back way more than I have given in time or money. I am motivated by the knowledge that holding space for youth to express themselves through art and poetry and connect with a caring community can help transform (and in some cases even save) their lives. Being with our young artists and poets, our staff, and fellow volunteers is energizing for me, and knowing that when my contributions are combined with the efforts of others, we can create ripples of real impact. It’s a testament to the power of over twenty years of collective action and shared vision. It’s the connections with this community and stories of transformation that keep me coming back year after year. Here's to the next 20!
