Let us introduce you to Marie Josée, a mother of four and a member of the Witinya Cooperative in Rwanda. A few years ago, Marie was seeking ways to increase her income, better support her family, and build a brighter future.
In 2022, she enrolled in our Microbusiness Development Program, where she learned to identify business opportunities, manage finances, and start small while dreaming big. Inspired and feeling confident, Marie began farming French beans and chili peppers on a small, rented plot. Today, she has expanded to 2.5 acres, secured an export contract, and grown her production more than tenfold.
Her success has transformed her family’s life: she helped pay for her children’s university education, launched a piggery, hired workers, renovated her home, and even supported her son in studying abroad. In October 2024, Marie’s journey was celebrated when she was named Best Woman Entrepreneur at the local sector government.
Stories like Marie Josée’s are the heartbeat of our new campaign: Her Progress Uninterrupted.
Why this name? Because even as the landscape of international development aid shifts around us, we are determined not to let that progress stall. Many large funders have adjusted priorities or ended programs. As a result, several local and international NGOs that were sub-grantees working in our communities have scaled back or closed operations, leaving critical gaps in support.
As this new chapter unfolds—marked by tighter resources and evolving donor priorities—Africa Development Promise is committed to standing in the gap and ensuring that Her Progress remains Uninterrupted.
Women continue to come to us with ambition and the desire to build better futures. We want to say yes to them.
That is why I am reaching out today.
Through Her Progress Uninterrupted, we have set a goal to raise $30,000 by September 30 to meet growing demand and sustain our work. With your support, we can:
- Complete renovations at our newest cooperative farm packhouse
- Equip farmers with essential tools
- Provide more women like Marie Josée with vocational training that opens real economic opportunities.
You have helped us come this far. Will you help us reach our goal?
Every gift, large or small, helps ensure that Her Progress remains Uninterrupted—and brings us closer to a future where women are not just beneficiaries, but builders of lasting change.
