St. Stephen School provides a setting where children accept one another as members of the Body of Christ and where learning experiences are enriched by the uniqueness and giftedness of each individual for students from Preschool through 8th grade. These experiences should always be a true and genuine reflection of the authentic Teachings of the Catholic Church to which this school is dedicated. We acknowledge that the support and cooperation of parents is essential to the life and growth of our school. That's why each St. Stephen's family is required to participate in 40 volunteer hours per year. We are all united in a common goal to provide for the religious, intellectual, physical and social development of each child.
Curriculum
Students learn best when challenged, when the learning process is diverse and when there is accommodation for individual differences. Our academic program employs a variety of techniques that are a combination of traditional and contemporary approaches to learning. There is continuity in skill building insured through the use of sequential materials in religion, language arts, mathematics, science and social studies. Emphasis is placed on the development of creative, critical and logical thinking, writing and problem solving skills. Various other approaches used to facilitate learning include hands on activities, incorporation of technology and hands on mastery of basic skills, small and large group instruction, cooperative learning groups and the practical application of acquired knowledge. A balanced curriculum is provided through the integration of art, music, computer, foreign language and physical education.
