You Can Help Your Neighbors Like Mary

At 83, Mary T.  has spent a lifetime giving to others — raising a family, volunteering at church, and always lending a hand to a neighbor in need. But after her husband passed and her arthritis worsened, even simple things like preparing meals or getting to town became a challenge.

That’s when she discovered her local Pagosa Springs Senior Center, and Community Cafe, operated & managed by Archuleta Seniors, Inc.

Through our Meals on Wheels program, Mary now receives hot, nutritious meals delivered right to her door — along with a warm smile and a friendly visit from one of our volunteers. “It’s more than food,” Mary says. “It’s knowing someone cares.”

Since taking advantage of our Medical Monitoring program, she continues to live safely and independently in the home she loves.

We’ve also helped Mary stay connected to her community by assisting her in accessing our local MET transportation service, which provides her with rides to medical appointments,  social activities, and wellness programs that keep her active and engaged.

Every day, Archuleta Seniors, Inc. supports neighbors just like Mary — but we can’t do it without you.

Providing nutritional meals to our senior community, sometimes the only nutritious meal our clients may have all week, comes at a cost.

• Actual cost per meal: $12.00

• Requested donation per meal: $6.00 (no one is ever turned away for an inability to pay).

• Average donation received: $3.50

Helping to cover this funding gap is where your generosity makes a huge impact in the lives of the cherished Elders in our community.

Your kind donations help provide:

  • Warm, healthy, delicious meals to homebound seniors, along with grab & go meals and congregate meals in our community cafe 5 days a week, and freshly prepared frozen meals for weekends.

  • Wellness programs, offered free of charge to keep our neighbors feeling their best with stretching and mobility, and Tai Chi classes.

  • Social connections that promote mental engagement and prevent loneliness. Programs such as Senior Conversations, along with Game Days, Educational Opportunities, and Arts Programs, are available most days of the week.

  • Our Medical Monitoring program allows our neighbors to remain safely in their own homes with hope, dignity, and independence.

Your generosity keeps our seniors nourished, cared for, and connected.

Quote by a local Donor.....
One of our local Donors was recently quoted saying, "While their food programs are thoughtful and comprehensive, ensuring options for both active and homebound seniors, they recognize that wellness is about more than just a meal. They provide critical support that fosters mental, social, and physical health through activities that I am excited to experience—a holistic approach to aging that truly sets them apart."

With the recent Federal Funds being discontinued for humanitarian Non-Profits, your kind donations are needed now more than ever.•
