Sustainable Settings is a regenerative, biodynamic ranch and nonprofit learning center in Carbondale, Colorado. For over two decades, we have stewarded land, cultivated nutrient-dense food, and educated thousands of students, farmers, and families in the living principles of soil health, ecological design, and whole-systems thinking.
We believe soil health is human health. When land is cared for as a living organism, food becomes more nourishing, communities become more resilient, and the future becomes more hopeful.
Today, we are entering a focused turnaround and growth phase designed to strengthen our enterprises, expand our educational programming, and increase our long-term impact. Our strategy is clear: stabilize core revenue streams, invest in mission-aligned infrastructure, and build toward long-term financial sustainability through diversified farm enterprises and a permanent endowment.
Phase One of our long-term strategy is a three-year plan to expand our raw dairy program.
The dairy is the economic and biological heart of the ranch. It anchors soil fertility through rotational grazing, supports our compost systems, nourishes our community with nutrient-dense food, and provides meaningful, hands-on education for interns and volunteers. Demand for high-quality, regeneratively produced dairy continues to grow in the Roaring Fork Valley, and we are positioned to meet that need responsibly.
Funds raised through this campaign will support herd expansion, milking and processing infrastructure, improved animal housing, and the working capital needed to scale production sustainably. This investment will allow us to increase revenue, stabilize staffing, deepen educational programming, and strengthen the whole-ranch organism.
By supporting this campaign, you are not simply funding cows. You are investing in soil regeneration, community education, local food security, and a model of agriculture that restores land while nourishing people.
Together, we can build a dairy that sustains the ranch, strengthens our region, and demonstrates what regenerative agriculture can truly achieve.
