Able Kids Foundation is launching a $1.5 million capital campaign to fund the purchase of a permanent facility at 724 Whalers Way in Fort Collins, Colorado. This location has been housing the Foundation since 2013. This purchase will provide a permanent home for the Foundation and allow us to continue to provide and expand our CAP services for decades to come. With your support, the Foundation can continue to be a global leader in the field of central auditory processing disorder and secure our future for the individuals that we serve.
Founded in 2006, Able Kids Foundation continues the work in central auditory processing disorder (CAPD) that began at Colorado State University in the 1970s. Initially recognized for its work with children, the Foundation is now recognized for serving clients of all ages. Since 2006, Able Kids Foundation has evaluated over 4,000 individuals from all 50 U.S. states and 32 countries.
Our mission is to eliminate barriers and expand opportunities for individuals with CAPD. CAPD is a common, yet misunderstood and underdiagnosed condition and frequently coexists with ADD/ADHD, autism, dyslexia, giftedness, speech/language delays, and visual processing disorder. Able Kids Foundation relies on researched-based and data-driven testing and management methods to improve the quality of life for individuals with CAPD. In addition to providing evidence-based solutions, the Foundation is passionate about educating others about CAPD and has been invited to speak at local, national, and international conferences.
The need for the Foundation’s services continues to grow and a permanent building will allow us to continue to serve the CAP community without the threat of displacement. Purchasing the building that currently houses the Foundation is the next step to protecting and securing the future of Able Kids Foundation.
If the Foundation were to be required to move in the future, it would be extremely challenging, if not impossible, to find a location that is suitable for our services. Able Kids Foundation has three sound suites that weigh between 3,600 and 7,200 pounds each making a move extremely difficult. Our current location provides an adequate and quiet space for our clients. In addition, the Foundation’s current location has easy access to I-25 for our clients who are traveling from out of town. The current building complex is a professional office area with a park and playground nearby. This advantageous park provides a calming space for children during evaluations, enhancing their overall experience. The current space meets all the Foundation’s needs.
