Soda Creek Reroute

SCoMBA is rerouting 1.34 miles of Soda Creek trail and replacing it with 2.34 miles of new trail. This reroute was included in the USFS Dillon Ranger District's Swan Mountain Project Environmental Assessment. The reroute is needed to move the trail out of seasonal wetlands and off of heavily eroded fall line sections.

 The work is being done in three phases. The first phase was completed in the Fall of 2025. The middle phase was completed this Spring. The final phase will be built by a contractor followed by volunteers who will finish the tread.

SCoMBA applied for two grants to pay the contractor. We were successful in getting a $20,000 grant from the NFF Ski Conservation Fund. We were not successful in our grant application to the Colorado Parks & Wildlife non-motorized trails. 

We have reorganized the project so that the contractor will do the major earth moving work with a mini-excavator and volunteers will do all of the finishing work. With that plan, we need an addtional $10,000.
