Memorial Fund for Dixie, Sugar, and Wasabi

This past month has brought heavy hearts to our ResqRanch family as we said difficult goodbyes to three cherished souls: our beloved senior horses Dixie and Sugar, and DrQ's faithful friend and ranch dog, Wasabi.

Dixie was a graceful 29-year-old Arabian mare with a heart of gold and a lifetime of stories to tell. For over 25 years, she lived alongside her mother and four siblings here in Colorado. When she became the last remaining member of her family, she grew quite lonely. That changed the day she arrived at the ResqRanch and met Sugar. These beautiful senior horses were thrilled to find a friend moving at their exact same speed, finding deep comfort in each other rather than trying to keep up with the new mustang yearlings who always had a few extra gears. They became completely inseparable.

Alongside our gentle mares was Wasabi, whose steadfast presence reminded us daily of the incredible joy and unconditional love our animal companions bring into our lives. Dixie, Sugar, and Wasabi spent their golden years surrounded by absolute care, love, and dignity.

While these three have recently passed away, their sweet spirits remain tightly woven into the fabric of the sanctuary. We are asking for your support through the Colorado Gives Foundation to honor the memories of Dixie, Sugar, and Wasabi by caring for the friends they left behind.

Your donations in their names will directly cover the essential winter food, shelter, medications, and holistic care for the rest of our rescue herd. Please help us continue providing the safe haven, companionship, and peace that Dixie, Sugar, and Wasabi so deeply cherished in their final years.
