Dixie's Memorial Fund

We would like to share the story of a beautiful horse who found her family twice, and whose legacy we now honor.

Dixie was a graceful 29-year-old Arabian mare with a heart of gold and a lifetime of stories to tell. This gentle senior horse lived a long and fulfilling life, and we were incredibly blessed to provide her a home where she spent her final golden years surrounded by love and care.

For 25 years, Dixie lived alongside her mother and four siblings here in Colorado. When she became the last remaining member of her family, she grew quite lonely. However, when she arrived at the ResqRanch, she met Sugar. This beautiful senior horse was thrilled to find a friend moving at her exact same speed, rather than trying to keep up with the new mustang yearlings who always had a few extra gears. The two bonded and found great comfort in each other, and in their other herd members.

Dixie has recently passed away, but her sweet spirit remains with us. We are asking for your support to honor Dixie's memory by caring for the friends she left behind. Your donations in her name will cover the essential food, shelter, medications, and care for Sugar and the rest of our rescue herd. Please help us continue providing the companionship and peace that Dixie so deeply cherished in her final years.
