Misha's birthday fundraiser for Local Theater Co

This inspiring community of artists and audiences has been my artistic home since my first sho with them in Season 7.

Now in our 15th season I am so proud of this company that continues to grow and change, and so grateful to have been able to grow alongside Local. 

For my 32nd birthday I am asking 32 people to make a donation of any amount to Local. Every dollar makes a difference and supports new plays, free education programs, and community engagement. 

Here are a few reasons I love Local:

1) We tell NEW stories. By supporting new plays we are bringing diverse voices to stage and having conversations about our current world. We are pushing boundaries artistically and creating opportunities for audiences to see themselves and each other more clearly. 

2) We provide FREE education for middle school students. Our LocalWRITES program gives students the tools to tell their own story and uses theater to promote literacy.

3) We create COMMUNITY. In a world that feels increasingly disconnected we are creating opportunities to gather in community at performances, audience engagement events, and our Local Listens program. I consistently hear from audience members and artists that the reason they come back to Local is that we create spaces of belonging.

4) We are committed to EDIAB. This is embedded in how we work and in the programing we select. I am particularly proud of this season's Local Listens: Queer Lineage which has been gathering LGBTQ+ individuals from ages 19-92 to share stories and be in community. These stories are inspiring two new plays.
