The Baker Swap Database, an initiative of the Andy Clark Foundation, is designed to connect bakers across the United States with meaningful, hands-on educational opportunities at bakeries they admire.
Through the database, bakers can identify participating bakeries where they can spend time learning new techniques, expanding their skills, experiencing different production methods, and gaining knowledge directly from fellow professionals. Whether the focus is artisan bread, pastry, milling, whole grains, fermentation, or another area of the craft, the goal is to make immersive bakery education more accessible.
One of the greatest barriers to this type of professional development is cost. The Andy Clark Foundation will help remove that barrier by funding transportation and lodging for participating bakers for the duration of their training. By covering these essential expenses, the Foundation allows bakers to pursue educational experiences that might otherwise be financially out of reach.
The Baker Swap Database is about more than training—it is about building a stronger, more connected baking community. Bakers gain practical skills and new perspectives that they can bring home to their own bakeries and communities, while host bakeries have an opportunity to share their knowledge, traditions, and expertise.
By investing in bakers and creating opportunities for them to learn from one another, the Andy Clark Foundation hopes to preserve valuable skills, encourage innovation, strengthen independent bakeries, and help the craft of baking continue to thrive across the United States.
