As a proud Board Co-Chair for Environmental Learning for Kids (ELK), I’m honored to support an organization that is changing lives and reshaping what inclusivity in the outdoors truly means. I am constantly inspired by ELK’s belief that change starts with the youth, and that every child—no matter their zip code or background—deserves access to nature, mentorship, and opportunities to thrive.

Colorado’s great outdoors belong to all of us. Yet for too long, many communities have been excluded from those spaces. ELK is breaking down those barriers, opening doors to outdoor experiences, education, and careers that empower the next generation to lead with confidence and purpose.

This Colorado Gives Day, I invite you to join me in supporting ELK’s mission. Together, we can nurture a more inclusive future—one where every young person can explore, learn, and lead in the natural world we all share.

A little bit more about ELK...

ELK reaches out to students who have been traditionally overlooked and under-encouraged in science and science-related careers, most notably, youth of color, LGBTQ+, and girls.

ELK opens doors for new opportunities by engaging and mentoring youth through programs that provide a real-life context for learning. Youth experience Colorado’s natural world, increase their academic science skills, become involved in their neighborhoods and get exposure to careers in the field of natural resources. They grow into stewards and engaged members of their communities while cultivating positive educational values to ensure high school and college graduation.

Please connect with us to support the ELK mission this Colorado Gives Day (and beyond)!
