Vail Public Library and Kids Closet are the Dolly Parton Imagination Library local affiliate partners who bring the much-loved program to our community.
Imagination Library currently mails books to more than 650 children, ages 0-5, in the Vail/Eagle River Valley community each month.
It is our goal to promote early literacy to the young families in our community by eliminating all barriers to accessing books.
According to a groundbreaking study of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library authored by Dr. Claire Galea, children in the program were nine times more likely to be interested in books, and they were nine times more likely to be read to four days per week compared to children not in the program.
Research also found that after just 10 books, children in the program were 4 times more likely to demonstrate emerging literacy skills.
Some comments from our local parents:
“Every month, when my daughter, who is 3 years old, receives her book, she hugs it for at least half an hour. Sometimes, she falls asleep with it in her arms."
With the State's commitment to match every dollar raised for books, every dollar donated is a book in the hands of our local kids. Please consider supporting our fundraiser to provide Imagination Library books for the children of the Vail and Eagle River Valley community!
