Recent Boulder Ballet Highlights:

  • In recent years Boulder Ballet has made a commitment to prioritizing wellness and access within our walls and in the community. We have recently integrated the Five Point Dancer Method into our school's training program creating a platform for both physical and mental well being. Our BIPOC and TAP scholarships have increased both diversity and access to students that wouldn't have otherwise had the opportunity to dance. We are eager to expand these programs even further.
  • This fall we launched our Late Start Program providing dance classes to students at Manhattan Middle School during the district’s late start mornings. Studies have shown an increase in attention and focus in academic classes by dance students and we are eager to expand this program to new schools in the community.
  • Boulder Ballet’s commissions in recent years have been focused on female and BIPOC artists. These commissions have ranged from local to internationally renowned artists bringing world class choreography to our own backyard.  Some of these artists include Sidra Bell, (first Black female choreographer for New York City Ballet), Gregory Dawson (SF/LINES Ballet), Caili Quan (NYC, Vail Dance Festival Artist-in- Residence), Jacob Mora, (Denver-based choreographer) and Amy Seiwert’s Imagery (SF) to name a few.

A note from our Artistic Director, Ben Needham-Wood:

"I moved to Boulder because the artists of Boulder Ballet celebrate the best qualities a person can hold — drive, passion, empathy, and generosity. These dancers inspire me daily, and I will always cherish the looks I see when a small child walks across our rehearsal door and pauses with awe at the magic these dancers create. I am so honored to be part of an organization that has been sharing art with Boulder for 40 years, and I'm proud to champion the next generation of artists dedicating themselves to the joy of this community."
