Hi everyone! This Giving Tuesday, I am fundraising for Colorado Fiscal Institute (CFI), where I currently serve as a Labor Policy Analyst. CFI is working to advance economic justice in Colorado and across the nation through strategic research, advocacy, and statewide civic education. To do this work, we leverage fiscal and economic policy as a tool to dismantle the relics of systems of exploitative labor and racial oppression, envisioning a Colorado where our tax code and state budget uplift workers and families and our economy works for everyone.
In my position, I feel lucky to be pursuing my passion for worker justice through researching and spearheading state policy innovations that address barriers to economic prosperity facing low-wage workers, especially women and workers of color. This legislative session, my work includes fighting for a fair work week for food service and retail workers, helping protect gig workers at companies like Uber and Lyft from racial discrimination and demanding corporate accountability, widespread access to paid family and medical leave, and ensuring fair working conditions and organizing power for home care workers. As always, CFI's staff will be fighting for tax credits for working families and sufficient funding for schools and public services like affordable housing and unemployment insurance.
I'm proud to be a part of a staff that prioritizes data-driven, worker-centered policies that invest in families, build fairer labor markets, and fix Colorado's upside-down tax code. I would deeply appreciate your support to ensure CFI has the resources to continue building strong coalitions and a more democratic, people-centered economy.
