Help Fossil Ridge Varsity Cheer Take the National Stage!

Fossil Ridge High School Varsity Cheer has earned the opportunity to compete at the UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship in Orlando, Florida! This year, our 17 varsity athletes have earned bids in BOTH Game Day and Traditional routines at the largest and most prestigious high school cheerleading championship in the country, hosted at ESPN.

This is no small accomplishment. Fossil Ridge has built a tradition of competing at Nationals, and over the past four years, our team has earned an impressive second or third place finish. Year after year, the Sabercats compete among the best high school cheer programs in the nation, and we're excited to represent Fossil Ridge once again!

What people may not realize is how much dedication goes into being a varsity cheerleader in a competitive program. Our athletes practice 7.5 hours every week, often before and after school. They spend fall weekends competing, and throughout the year, they proudly support our school's other athletic teams. Varsity cheer is about much more than what happens on the competition floor. It's about teamwork, leadership, discipline, perseverance, and representing something bigger than yourself.

Getting to Nationals, however, comes with a significant financial commitment. While Fossil Ridge High School and the district support other aspects of the cheer program, travel and competition expenses for Nationals are entirely the responsibility of the athletes' families. This year, those costs have increased substantially, with airfare for our athletes and three coaches alone nearly doubling compared to previous years. Athlete registration and other travel expenses add to the total.

We're doing everything we can to keep costs manageable. Rather than staying on Disney property, the team will share a large vacation rental home. Parents volunteer to prepare home cooked meals instead of eating out, and we rent vans to keep transportation expenses down. We're committed to making smart financial choices while giving our team the opportunity they've worked so hard to earn.

Our goal is to raise $25,000 to help offset Nationals expenses for the entire team. Every dollar raised benefits the team equally, helping reduce the financial responsibility for every family. Families will still contribute toward the remaining expenses, but community support can make a meaningful difference in making this opportunity accessible.

Nationals takes place in February, but the time to make this opportunity possible is now. Travel arrangements and major expenses must be secured well before the competition, and we're asking our Fossil Ridge community, friends, family, and supporters to rally behind our Sabercats!

We don't want a family's ability to pay to stand in the way of our team's opportunity to compete.
