Colorado Rising For Communities is powering a grassroots movement to protect our health, safety, quality of life, and the future of our climate from the harms and impacts of oil and gas operations. 

Every day, new oil and gas wells are proposed in Colorado next to our schools, homes, and water sources. Not only do they threaten our climate and ecosystems, they threaten the health and safety of our communities. Hundreds of leaks and ruptures happen each year—some minor, others catastrophic. Yet pipelines are still labeled “safe,” even as aging infrastructure increases the risk of accidents. In Colorado, we saw 1,800 oil spills in the last year alone. 

Colorado Rising for Communities has continued to work fearlessly to protect frontline communities from oil and gas development, share knowledge and data on the harms of fracking, and ensure that diverse youth voices are not only heard, but truly centered in environmental spaces. 

In 2026, we will continue expanding our Youth Rising programming, working closely with community partners to co-create empowering spaces. We are growing Colorado Rising’s Youth Advisory Committee and exploring new ways to inspire youth leadership, including an environmental summit for elementary and middle school students, a youth advocacy lobby day, and a youth climate summit with Jeffco Public Schools.
