I became the Executive Director almost 7 months ago. I didn't want to move to Colorado until I met the incredible people behind this work. Their passion resonated me because I'm a disabled person raising a disabled child. Each day at DLC, we center the lives of people with disabilities who need lawyers, self-advocacy supports, information, and policy change. We do everything from file complaints against state agencies to partner for systemic litigation. Because of our team, kids with disabilities can get educational services that are meaningful to their future. Incarcerated people with mental health disabilities aren't harmed further by abuse. People formerly in nursing homes now live in their communities. We are the state of Colorado's protection and advocacy organization, which gives us federal authority to investigate and monitor anywhere that people with disabilities could be. Help us expand this power beyond the 23 current staff we have.
