Youth Sports Giving & Why it's Important

Denver City Lax provides year-round programs at 100% NO COST to families in the metro area. 

The Youth Sports Giving Day is a special opportunity to support our work in the community, and have your donation matched!  The Daniels Fund, and others, has dedicated $1,000,000 (one million dollars) in matching funds for donations made beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 3 until Wednesday, September 17. That means you can double your impact! 

Why Colorado Youth Sports Giving was created and our solution?

• What we know? Sports build better futures. Research confirms that consistent sports participation boosts academic success, career achievement, self-esteem, mental and physical health and even higher lifetime earnings.
• The challenge: Sports costs continue to rise, many families—especially from low-income communities and communities of color—struggle to afford sports participation, causing youth sports rates to decline.
• City Lax's solution: Denver City Lax has become a national leader in youth sports by providing year-round programs at 100% NO COST. The organization has worked with 1000’s of boys and girls over the past two decades, and our participation continues to climb each year.

What We Do

• We introduce lacrosse to kids and families who otherwise wouldn’t know about the game or have the opportunity to participate.
• We then get boys and girls as early as Kindergarten equipped, and playing on a City Lax team, providing the platform and team structure to create relationships and teach life skills.
• Through those relationships we engage boys and girls not only in lacrosse activity, but education and enrichment programs including academic guidance, mental health, art, math intervention, reading, outdoor adventure, career exploration, and more.
• Programs take place on a year-round basis: afterschool during the school year, and full-day camps during the summer. 
• We eliminate the financial barrier to participation, ensuring every child has the opportunity to excel.
