Education and communication skills open the door to equal opportunity and a better quality of life for everyone in Eagle County.
Literacy affects nearly every part of daily life, from finding a job and helping children with homework to understanding a medical form, even reading a street sign. For those of us who read, write, and communicate with ease, it’s easy to forget just how much of the world depends on these skills.
Since 1990, The Literacy Project has helped adults with low literacy overcome these barriers and reach their goals. For adult learners, literacy opens doors to independence, confidence, and, in many cases, a sense of safety and belonging.
Our Adult Literacy Program includes:
English Language Classes
Our free English language classes take place at Eagle Valley Library District branches and help adult learners build and improve their English skills.
One-on-One Tutoring
Our free, volunteer-led tutoring program matches English language learners and adults with low literacy with trained tutors. Together, they work toward goals like learning to read, preparing for the GED or citizenship test, applying for jobs, and much more.
Your support ensures that every Eagle County resident has access to the tools, confidence, and safety that literacy provides. It also gives you the chance to show our students that they are valued members of this community.
With your help, we can continue building a community where every person, no matter their age or background, has the opportunity to read well, speak well, and live well.
