Support Denver CASA with Stefanie

This year, I invite you to join me in making sure children and youth in our community have someone who will show up, speak up, and advocate for them. As a current board member of Child Advocates – Denver CASA, I am proud to support an organization whose mission has been personally meaningful to me for many years.

More than a decade ago, I took an oath to serve as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer. During my years as a CASA, I had the privilege of supporting a family with three children, building relationships with them and working alongside professionals to help ensure their individual needs and best interests remained at the center of their case.

That experience showed me firsthand how important it is for a child to have a consistent, trusted adult in their corner. CASA volunteers do just that. They get to know the children they serve, listen to their needs and perspectives, and advocate for them in courtrooms, schools, and throughout the child welfare system.

Today, approximately 200 active Denver CASA volunteers are serving 250 children, helping ensure that children and youth who have experienced abuse or neglect are not overlooked in an overburdened system.

This year, that work needs our support more than ever. Denver CASA received 35% less VOCA funding in 2026 and has eliminated two staff positions through attrition, while continuing to serve children and youth who need an advocate. Private donations are increasingly important to sustaining this work, including critical support for older youth preparing to transition out of foster care.
