When I was assaulted in college, I had a strong support system. In the aftermath of unspeakable trauma, I was believed. My family, friends, and community stood beside me when I couldn’t stand on my own. They were my voice when I was voiceless. And eventually, they helped me regain my power.

But if I've learned anything over my last 19 years of advocacy work, it's that most victims of sexual violence don't have that kind of unwavering support.

At the SAVA Center, we serve survivors who have no one else.

Children as young as three.

Adults who have carried their silence for decades.

People who never thought they’d be believed—until someone from SAVA showed up and simply said, “You are not alone.”

That’s what we do. And that’s what you can help make possible.

SAVA is Northern Colorado’s only dedicated rape crisis center, offering therapy, advocacy, prevention education, and a 24/7 crisis hotline—completely free of charge.

But this year, our funding has been cut. Drastically

At a time when the demand for services is at an all-time high, we are being asked to do more with far less.

So I won't sugarcoat it: We need you. Survivors need you.

If you’ve ever said you support survivors, this is your moment to act. If you’ve ever shared a story like mine, or told a friend you’d be there if they needed you, this is your moment. Be the one who shows up. Be the reason a child recieves therapy before shame takes root. Be the reason someone calling our hotline hears, “I believe you.”

Be the reason SAVA can continue to listen, believe, and support survivors in our community.

For Colorado Gives Day, I'm asking you to join me.

Give now. You could save a life, just like mine.
