Testimonials

"If there is a heaven and I have an opportunity to experience it, I would be very happy if music like this were present there. Thank you all so much for tonight's program."
- Judy Macomber

"I simply don't have the words to describe how much my girlfriend and I enjoyed ourselves. Actually, "enjoyed" is not the right word. More like-"were deeply moved by" the material. I'm a longtime admirer of Arvo Part, but had not heard many of the other composers before. What an incredible treat that was!" - Anonymous

"The performance was exquisite. I found myself dancing in my living room - and that is the one good thing about this crazy time: One can't dance in a concert hall!" - Anonymous

Mission

The mission of St. Martin's Chamber Choir is to perform classical choral music to the highest professional standards, and to inspire appreciation of the choral art by educating audiences and the wider community through the presentation of both beloved choral works and the unearthing of forgotten hidden historical gems.

Background Statement

Timothy Krueger's dream to create an all-professional chamber choir in Denver began to take root in the early 1990's, when he sang with the Santa Fe Desert Chorale. This dream became reality when St. Martin's Chamber Choir (SMCC) sang its first performance at St. Martin's Chapel at Saint John's Episcopal Cathedral; the group's name came from that very first concert. He knew that Denver had enough high caliber vocalists to make it possible for him to realize his vision: an ensemble where rehearsals were a place for intelligent and articulate musicians to delve deeper into the music than would be possible with amateur singers, and whose performances would appeal to the expectations of highly discriminating audiences.

Now in its 30th season, St. Martin's Chamber Choir has earned a reputation as the region's premier professional choir. With a roster of 50+ singers, Maestro Krueger has the ability to assemble elite ensembles of as few as 5 and as many as 70 singers, depending on the repertoire. The Board of Directors was first formed in 1997, and SMCC received its 501 (c) (3) status a year later.

As was Mr. Krueger's intention from the beginning, singers have been paid since 1999 for all rehearsals, concerts, recording sessions, and community and education engagements. Under Mr. Krueger's leadership the choir has released over 12 commercial CDs, including 3 on the British Toccata Classics label. SMCC recordings are regularly heard on Colorado Public Radio and on classical radio play lists across the country.
