Description

Our Streets to Stability program offers job training, a source of income, recent job experience to list on a resume, and the individual supportassistance youth need to turn their lives around. We encourage a youth who demonstrates that heshe is truly ready to make a life change to complete our application and interview process. Youth accepted into the Streets to Stability program agree to participate in ongoing coachingmentoring and to comply with all of our work rules. We currently hire and train youth to work in general office administration (word processing, data entry, working in our clothing bank, etc.) and in the janitorial field. We are in the process of expanding our trainingwork program to include two new areas: Sox Place Silk Screening (designing, silk screening and marketing t-shirts) and Sox Original Boards (assembling, marking and repairing skate boards). Youths participating in the Streets to Stability program work for a specified period of time and are paid a stipend. Youths are trained in the hard skills needed for the work area they select, trained in soft skills, such as appropriate attiredemeanor for the workplace; handling on-the-job disputes; the importance of showing up every day and on time, etc, and are provided immediate feedback on their work performance and work ethic. At the end of the employment period, Sox Place will assist the youth with finding a job in a related field and will continue to meet at least monthly with the youth to help work out issues that might arise on the new job. Program participants are selected based upon their perseverance and demonstrated willingness to making positive changes in their life. Trainingcoachingmentoring is provided by a single work-leader, fostering close relationships.
