I titled this campaign, "Son in the Sky" in honor of our son, Aaron Angel Herrera's bright light, warmth, beauty and energy. I hope that by raising awareness and helping Angel Eyes, his light and warmth will reach many others for years and years to come.

Angel Eyes is a small nonprofit organization that, among other efforts, provides professional bereavement counseling to families who have experienced the loss of a child. They provided me with counseling and much needed support at no cost when my son passed away in May 2013. When parents are grieving and recovering from trauma, they shouldn't have to worry about the costs of counseling/therapy, or going to an unfamiliar place to get help. I think these are some of the top reasons people shy away from getting help. One of the reasons Angel Eyes is so special is it solves these problems by providing counseling at no cost, and providing counseling in the comfort and convenience of a family's own home if they wish.

In our son Aaron's memory, I am raising money for this incredible organization that has and will continue to help me, my family and so many other parents and families who face this agonizing tragedy. Here are some ways your donations can help:

$10: Provides an initial bereavement literature packet to a grieving family
$35: Provides a grieving family with one, one-on-one counseling session
$60: Provides a grieving family with one home visit
$125: Helps Angel Eyes host one Monthly Support Group Meeting in Denver
$200: Provides an individual or child with six sessions of grief counseling

Please feel free to make a donation of any amount at any time. If you're like me and are sentimental about dates, here are some special dates on which you can make a donation in Baby Aaron's honor and memory:

October 12: My due date
October 15: Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day
February 8: The day my husband and I found out we were pregnant
May 16: The day Baby Aaron passed away

Other non-monetary ways to honor Baby Aaron:

-Volunteer for Angel Eyes.
-Light a candle for him. White candles for peace...red candles for love, strength and courage.
-Women: don't decline the optional AFP blood test during your pregnancy. It's a long story, but while there was nothing that could have saved Baby Aaron, my physical survival is a miracle and owed in part to the AFP blood test.
-Sing "If You're Happy and You Know It, Clap Your Hands" with the babies and children in your life. Baby Aaron clapped his hands for us during his first ultrasound.
-Pray for us to be blessed with strength.
-Love. Be playful. Live in the moment.

Thank you for your support.

Love,
Megan Herrera
