The Rockley Family Foundation is driven by a passion to promote music education. The Foundation's mission is supported and accomplished through raising money for music scholarships, donating musical instruments and products to the under-privileged, and donating the use of music instruments to the music education community.

The Rockley Family Foundation is driven by a passion to promote music education. The Foundation's mission is supported and accomplished through raising money for music scholarships, donating musical instruments and products to the under-privileged, and donating the use of music instruments to the music education community.
A few years back, the Rockley family's music store, in conjunction with Young Chang Pianos, donated four pianos to high-risk children at Denver School of the Arts.� To win the instruments, the children wrote essays explaining how the instrument would change their lives.� The judges selected from over 50 essays.� The finalists read their essays at a concert at the King Center on the Auraria Campus (University of Colorado-Denver).� There wasn't a dry eye at the event!� Years later, the family still periodically hears from some of the kids who still have and play the pianos.� This event changed some young lives for the better.� This is where the seeds of the Rockley Family Foundation were born.�
The Rockley Family Foundation was established in 2007 to support music education by providing music education institutions with the use of instruments on a no-cost basis, donating instruments, donating money to help maintain instruments, and donating money for scholarships.� This Institutional program has experienced much success. Programs have been established with the University of Colorado-Boulder, Marquette University, Colorado Christian University, University of Colorado-Denver, Metropolitan State College of Denver, Community College of Denver, Arapahoe Community College, Community College of Aurora, University of Colorado-Colorado Springs, Milwaukee Youth Arts Center, University of North Carolina-Charlotte, University of Northern Colorado, University of Delaware, Loveland School District, University of Nebraska-Omaha, Evergreen Center for the Arts, Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities, ResponsiveEducation, Texas A&M-Commerce, Augustana Arts, Augustana Institute of Music, and City Strings.
In 2009 the Foundation provided $1,342,079 in in-kind and cash donations to the above organizations and will far exceed that in 2010.� By providing or upgrading the instruments available to the students in these institutions, the Foundation helps them with an improved musical education experience.� The institutions can then re-direct some of their resources to improve their programs in other ways. In some cases, this support has made the difference in keeping certain institutional music programs at all!� Thousands of music students' lives have been directly or indirectly touched by these programs.�
The Foundation launched its Individual program in 2010, to donate instruments and scholarship money to the underprivileged.
