Testimonials

ReNew Our Schools:
"The Colorado Energy Office is excited to support a program that helps promote energy literacy and energy savings in schools, with such well-defined, measurable and long-lasting impacts." Michael Turner, Colorado Energy Office, Energy Efficiency Programs Manager.

Material's Reuse Program:
"Resource Central oversees a powerful waste mitigation program that diverts thousands of tons
of building materials from landfills, while creating jobs and helping families save money." -Ellen Orleans, City of Boulder, Sustainability Specialist

Garden In A Box:
"I've always wanted flower gardens, to reduce the lawn size, and have been completely overwhelmed with finding plants that would work together (diameter, height, watering needs, sun requirements, colors, blooming sequence, etc., etc.), plus learning how to keep the plants alive. The Garden-in-a-Box concept is perfect for me because I can focus on how to make a happy home for the plants; someone else has done the selection..... All I have to do is follow the numbered diagram. This is sooooo fun!!!" -GIAB customer

Slow the Flow:
"Working with Resource Central has enabled us to offer a broad spectrum of programs to our water customers to promote conservation. The programs are a good value and very well received by the community. - Municipal partner, City of Golden, CO

"I love contributing to an organization that actively moves the needle on conservation in the communities it serves. I consider it the best possible use of my expertise and volunteer time." Mark Ruzzin, Resource Central Board Member, 2008-2014

Mission

The mission of Resource Central is to put conservation into action.

Background Statement

Resource Central was founded in 1976 (originally as the Boulder Energy Conservation Center) by a group of community-minded citizens seeking ways to help reduce our dependence on non-renewable resources. Over the last 42 years, the organization has become an integral part of the Front Range community partnering with dozens of local governments, water providers, and individuals to put conservation into action. We offer programs and services that have measurable conservation impact around reducing the use of water and energy as well as the reuse of building materials.

We share practical solutions for conservation and sustainable living through direct services, seminars, youth engagement competitions, and community-based communications. Additionally, the strategic partnerships we maintain help mutually strengthen and broaden our collective work.
