Mission Statement

Project Safeguard empowers and partners with people who have experienced gender-based violence, helping them to navigate a course of survivor-driven justice through expert, trauma-informed legal advocacy and representation.

Organization History

Project Safeguard is a 501 (c)(3) organization whose mission is to provide victims of domestic violence with legal advocacy and support as they seek to become safe, stay safe and build successful new lives for themselves and their families. Project Safeguard was incorporated in 1984 as an outgrowth of the Colorado Coalition for Justice for Abused Women (CCJAWS) formed by a small group of shelter workers, therapists, attorneys and judges who were concerned about unresponsiveness of the police and the legal system to battered women.
More than 30 years after its founding, Project Safeguard works to ensure that every victim of domestic violence is taken seriously and treated respectfully by law enforcement and prosecution; and that each receives justice from the courts. Our advocates are located inside the Rose Andom Center in Denver, as well as in Adams, Arapahoe, Broomfield and Denver County Courthouses, to assist and support victims in making effective use of those important protections that are available to them through the civil court systems.

"I am so happy that I got to use the legal services provided by Project Safeguard. My advocate was AMAZING!"

"Everyone that I met/spoke with was incredibly kind, caring and helpful."

"[I now have] more trust and confidence in the legal process. So grateful to Project Safeguard."
